Economic independence can change the way a woman participates in decisions within her home and community. For women from financially weaker families, practical skills can create an important pathway towards earning, confidence and greater control over their future. APARAJITA, the Women Empowerment Programme of KNSS India, focuses on creating such opportunities through skill development and collective participation.
The programme supports 30 Self Help Groups, a Beautician Training Centre and more than 75 Sewing Training Centres operating across eight states. Training in beautician work, tailoring and related livelihood skills gives women practical abilities that can be used to earn independently or strengthen an existing source of family income. More than 7,500 women have benefited through APARAJITA initiatives.
The importance of such training reaches beyond an individual income. When a woman gains a usable skill, she can contribute more confidently to household needs, make informed financial choices and participate more actively in her community. KNSS India recognises women as a strong foundation of family and community life and therefore places their development among its central commitments.
APARAJITA represents an approach where support is connected with capability. By creating spaces for women to learn, practise and move towards financial independence, KNSS India works to strengthen livelihoods with dignity and long term purpose.
